As an intern at Trident DMG and Goldberg & Galper PLLC in Washington, D.C., I was able to spend time in a space where law, journalism, and politics are inextricably linked. I worked on several client teams and grew my skills in press relations, conducting specialized research, drafting and editing press releases, identifying relevant news with media sweeps, and building media lists.

 

The work I was able to observe firsthand was equally insightful. I was allowed a seat at the table to learn how litigation communication can develop over the course of a case, from the beginning strategic stages to post-verdict messaging.

What I did (day-to-day)

  • Drafted press releases, conducted media sweeps 

  • Pitched national and regional media, with at least three articles published per pitch 

  • Conducted research for client teams on topics such as strategic investments, corporate board crises 

  • Attended training on litigation and crisis communication  

  • Worked on teams supporting clients with services such as general public relations for a beverage distributor and crisis communication for a high-level executive 

  • Read about litigation and crisis communication through internal case studies
